“So should you buy the Verizon iPhone? If you're an iPhone die-hard who hates AT&T, well, sure. This is your saviour. If you're a satisfied Verizon Droid owner: No. The iPhone 4 is good, but so are Verizon's other top-of-the-line smartphones. If you're looking at your first smartphone, the iPhone is a great choice. Finally, a note about the rating: The Verizon iPhone 4 gets four stars, even though the Droid X, HTC Incredible and AT&T's iPhone all received 4.5 stars. The difference is seven months, and innovation. When those phones were released, they offered breakthrough features and advanced the state of the art. While Verizon's iPhone 4 is an excellent smartphone, it's the same phone we've had on AT&T for seven months. It's just on a different carrier.”

“Apple's fourth-generation smartphone really is its best yet, notwithstanding controversy about external antennae. In our tests, reception was outstanding. Its screen is the highest resolution of just about any screened gadget, with amazing colour and definition. An HD video/5Mp stills camera is joined by front-facing camera for Facetime video chats. Longer battery life (up to three days in real-life use), faster processor, multi-tasking OS and an incredibly responsive multitouch display are adjuncts to what is still the easiest and most intuitive phone ever made. An unrivalled smartphone against any other.”

“An impressive new design, amazing new display, key features like multitasking, and an attempt to mainstream video calls, along with hundreds of other little improvements combine together to make this a substantial upgrade and clearly the best iPhone ever. Our usual smartphone expert’s advice still holds true — pick your network first. If AT&T is the best carrier in your area it’s almost a no brainer. Unless you’re allergic to apples, this is the phone to get. Internationally, iPhone 4 will be on multiple carriers in most countries so the odds are good you’ll find it on your carrier of choice. Then it comes down to device.iPhone 4 is still limited in ways that frustrate power users, and may be flawed to the point of having serious issues, so that’s something you’ll want to consider before buying. If you currently have an iPhone it’s certainly more compelling an upgrade from the iPhone 3GS than the iPhone 3GS was from the iPhone 3G, and a great cross-grade for anyone on another platform whose willing to sacrifice control to gain usability. If you have an iPhone 3G or iPhone 2G, and you can afford the upgrade, do it. You’ll find the difference is night and day.”

“The iPhone 4′s cool factor alone will grab your attention, but unless you’re a current AT&T customer sans iPhone, we would say hold on to your 3G S for a bit. Apple iOS 4 is a major upgrade, but it brought improvements to the 3G S as well, mitigating functional differences and perhaps lowering the reasons to upgrade. If you’re a Verizon, Sprint or even T-Mobile customer, you have plenty of worthwhile iPhone 4-like choices.”

People complain about the IPHONE 4 because they do not know anything about the unit. I have sold hundreds of the IPHONE 4 and have had 0 come back with antenna issues! You people complaining on here need to take a step back and stop looking for a problem! Just because some person in the states de...

Personally i like Apple but the antenna issues make me think that they really just wanted to get the phone finished. I don't understand how they overlooked a problem such as this but they did. Apple I am sorry to say but you really screwed up on this one, and the idea of a bumper case is idiotic,...

In Depth

The Apple iPhone 4 came onto the cell phone scene in 2010. When the iPhone 4 was introduced, the improved physical design was immediately evident, and the list of updates was impressive.

To begin with, the iPhone 4 has a more stylish and hi-tech look than the earlier iPhone models. Both the front screen and back panel are constructed with super strong aluminosilicate glass, the same glass used for windows on helicopters. A band of brushed stainless steel that wraps all around the phone is the antenna.

The iPhone 4 comes with a 5 megapixel camera on both the front and the back, no more shooting photos of yourself in front of a mirror, the camera easily switches from front screen to back screen view. With added 5x digital zoom, and a flash that can be turned off, this is one of the best phone cameras on the market today.

The video recording is now HD, and combined with Apple’s iMovie or another app, high quality videos are at your fingertips. Another feature of the front screen and back screen camera option is Face Time, video conferencing that is as easy as making a phone call.

At the basis of all these improvements is Apple’s move to the powerful and energy-efficient Apple A4 chip. The new IOS 4, which Apple calls “the most advanced mobile operating system in the world” brings with it several upgrades. These include multi-tasking, which, when combined with the faster app switching, makes every application on the iPhone easier to use. The added gyroscope feature offers all way motion sensors- the best thing in the world for gaming. iPhone 4 comes with folder options that are easily organized, re-organized and updated. Enhanced mail features along with many other features, big and small are included.

Saving the most awesome improvement for last, we come to the Retina Display. This updated display is super bright, crisp and completely pixel free. With 326 pixels per inch, the human eye is not capable of distinguishing pixels from any angle. The contrast is at a whopping 800:1 ratio, four times higher than previous iPhones.

This is the world’s best selling smart phone for a reason.

Need to Know: Apple iPhone 4

1. A Retina Display provides amazing visuals, the crispest images on any cell phone. (The Good)

2. A 5 megapixel camera, with available flash and 5x digital zoom. (The Good)

3. Powered by what Apple calls “the world’s fastest mobile processor”. (The Good)

Yep, should work fine. Just make sure the phone is not locked to any carrier. With regards with the SIM, you can get another one Virgin Mobile Canada or simply have it cut.
