Yeah, this is odd. This is the first time I've heard of this. Can you check Messages > Settings if there's any option that makes the icon change color?

Well that's odd. Can you check if you have any unread text messages? With regards to camera flash, this phone doesn't have it.

Nope! Just whatever it was set up as. 

I bought the phone from Wirelink on June 20, 2017.  On June 22, 2017 the phone started shutting off after I've talked 5 or 6 minutes on it.  June 24, 2017 Wirelink fixes it so it won't do that.  June 25, 2017 the phone started doing it again and this time I couldn't see who was calling me.  June 29, 2017, I took the phone to Wirelink to get a replacement phone and the guy takes 45 minutes for the whole process which tells me he just deleted everything on my phone and tried to pass it off as if he gave me a new one.  If he had given me a new phone the process would have only taken 15 minutes and not 45 minutes.   Wirelink refuses to give me another phone because it's obvious it can't be fixed.  Wirelink (and MetroPCS) is claiming if you talk over 60 minutes on a new phone, they can't replace it.  I say BS, especially if the phone never worked right.

Thanks, Carl.  But I had the phone deactivated.  This phone is acting like it has a timer on the calls and I can talk for 5 or 6 minutes before the caller can't hear me.  I can hear the caller, but they can't hear me.  And the people I bought it from won't replace it or give me another phone, they just keep trying to fix the phone instead of giving me another one.  I would not recommend anyone to buy an Alcatel TRU phone.

When you turn on the screen, it still doesn't show who is calling? It should at least show you the number of the caller. Please check Settings > Sounds & Notifications > Interruptions > Choose Always Interrupt.

Oh.. That sucks. Was the phone recently bought? And do you mind letting us know where you bought it? Your experience will help other users.

I'm sorry to read that. That sucks. Looks like you received a lemon product. Have you brought the issue to MetroPCS?

It shows all the apps, but how do I know which ones are running and what my launcher name is? Thanks! Maybe I'm just a little slow on this? Also, how do I take a flash photo on this phone? It doesn't show an option for a flash?

I clicked on Settings-Apps and it just displays all the apps. There is no tab marked "all".  Not in menu either?

Hi Mark. Check Settings > Apps. You should find it there.

Yes i am looking for the sim which will be use for messaging and also how to choose the sim i want send a message.

• The sim card setting as you mentioned isnt found there is only dual sim settings.  

I wish to kknow how to make the message app ask me the sim selection before sending a message.

Hmm.. I see. What you can do now is just use a 3rd party messaging app like Go SMS Pro (link). It's really easy to use when you have dual SIM cards, you will see 2 send buttons instead of one (SIM1, SIM2). Please try it and let me know if that works for you.

Hi there. If you are pertaining to the SIM that will be used for messaging, please go to Settings > SIM cards. Let me know if that's what you're looking for.

Yes, that one! Dual SIM settings, please check it. Usually, you can choose there which SIM to use by default.

My Alcatel phone won't download pictures to my computer using a cable. Other phones can download pictures. A508dl model.I always get "no new pictures" . Have tried the phone on several different computers. Won't download to any of them.So it must be the phone.

Hi Carl, the # key is the key for white space. The phone is very basic and I've come to the conclusion that expected way is either to not use capitals, or you have to switch the text entry to capitals from a menu, type one letter, then switch the text entry back to normal from the menu again. In fact I've come to the conclusion that the quickest way is to type a period, white space, and then the next letter will be auto-capitalized as it detects a new sentence. Then go back and delete the white space and the period. A bit of a drag but it is a really cheap basic phone.

Thank you, Carl P. I was wondering how to change to capital letters on the Alcatel Go Flip and, as you suggest, the # key seems to be the way. I press # once and I can type capital letters, press # again and it switches to numbers, press # once more and now letters are back to lowercase.

Hi there davekeys. Try pressing # key once and then enter a letter. Let me know if it is capitalized.

When entering text, what happens when you press '#' ? 'Cause I remember in Nokia phones, that's how you use predictive text. Please let me know if it works the same.

Hi there. Open the Phone app -> Call Settings -> Call barring -> Disable all barrings. Also, in Call settings -> look for Fixed dialing -> make sure it's disabled. By the way, when you try to send a text message, do you see an error or a pop-up message? If you do, let me know. That'll help on how to fix that. Also, check if your number/account is still active and still have credits to be able to send text messages.
