“The Motorola Droid Bionic is the most powerful Android phone you can buy today, thus it's our Editors' Choice for touch-screen handsets on Verizon Wireless. If you're looking for lightning-fast Internet access, top-notch apps, and unique features, this is your phone. Yeah, sure, something better will always be coming around the corner. But for now, nothing quite matches the dual-core, LTE power of the Droid Bionic—and it transforms into a laptop or a desktop PC.”

“Although touted as the first in a new breed of dual-core 4G devices, in some ways it feels like the last in its generation, home to an uninspired skin, average display and ho-hum camera. What will rescue the Bionic from being an unwanted stepchild is its sheer speed and power. With 4G cranked up, the browser blazing through Flash and a simple Bluetooth keyboard attached, this Droid will leave netbook users choking in its Bionic dust.”

“In short, the handset itself is speedy, powerful and — battery life aside — has all the stuff you want in a high-end smartphone. But so do four or five other Android options currently on the market. Unfortunately, the extra products that were supposed to tip the scales in the Bionic’s favor end up falling far short of their potential.”

“So you ask, what’s great about the Motorola DROID BIONIC? Well, it’s the one handset that’s actually able to combine everything perfectly into one device – thus, setting the bar in what we expect out of a top-shelf smartphone. Yes, its late arrival on the scene is preventing it from fully expressing itself as an out of this world smartphone, but if you simply look at it as regular high-end smartphone, we guarantee you won't end up disappointed. There's really a lot to like about the DROID BIONIC, even if it's advent doesn't involve a range of “firsts”. The only thing that's left to be considered is its premium price tag of $299.99, but when you factor in the fact that it performs so competently on a number of fronts, it looks like the Motorola DROID BIONIC justifies it.”

In Depth

Built to run on Verizon’s 4G LTE network, the Motorola Droid Bionic is nothing short of a processing monster. Featuring a 4.3 inch, 540 x 960 resolution touchscreen display, the Bionic blasts through tasks and web pages with its dual-core processor and 512MB of DDR2 RAM.

The Bionic offers an 8MP camera with dual LED flash, a second .3MP camera for video calling, HD video record, and HDMI output so you can jack your phone into your television.

Add an MP3 player, native access to Facebook, Picasa and Twitter, GPS, Bluetooth and Wi-Fi, and you have a truly advanced mobile device that also makes phone calls.

Still more goodies include a 3.5mm headset jack, multiple-colored service lights, and expandable memory via microSD/microSDHC.

All told, the Motorola Droid Bionic is packed with power, functionality and a full menu of the most popular features available.
