Critic consensus
“Nokia's 3.4 looks chic, is not too heavy for its size, and comes with a certain future-proofing with Android One, which is otherwise often searched for in vain in inexpensive smartphones. The battery runtimes are good, the device offers a decent performance level and the speakers are not bad at all. We could hardly determine any serious weaknesses in our test, apart from the camera, which is only really suitable for snapshots at most. If that does not bother you, you will get a solid device from the lower mid-range.”
“The Nokia 3.4 makes a good first impression for a phone that costs less than ÂŁ100 online. It comes with a decent screen, the design is less bland than some, plus the plain Android One software is better-looking than that of many phones with third-party interfaces pasted on top. But, despite using a reasonable Snapdragon 460 processor, the Nokia 3.4 feels slow. This isn’t about 3D gaming or using demanding apps. The basics such as jumping between the browser and a messenger app are affected, and many will find this frustrating.”
“Nokia has the right motives with the 3.4, in that those looking for a budget phone shouldn’t have to settle for poor specs. The cameras on this handset are capable of some truly excellent results, the display is a decent panel at this price, and the Android One platform makes it a nice user experience all round. It’s such a shame then that the performance is so inconsistent.”
“The Nokia 3.4 is a cheap phone with a battery that should last two days for many, along with clean software and the promise of updates. But limited RAM makes it run slower than we’d like, and as such it's hard to fully recommend even at its low price.”
