Nokia 5710 XA

“The 5710 is definitely fun. Available in two distinctive colour schemes it's a chunky unit with a large screen, well-laid-out physical buttons and a typically Nokia menu layout, by which I mean a doddle to understand. And then there's the really cool feature. On the back of the device is a slide-down cover which reveals a pair of wireless earbuds. So the 5710 is like a big earbud charging case with a basic phone bundled in. And when I say a basic phone, don't expect a great deal of features. No WhatsApp, no Wi-Fi, and only some very basic apps such as Facebook and a suite of games. But to lament its lack of modern touches would be to ignore what this phone is really about. It's a music phone.”

“In some ways, the Nokia 5710 XA is a breath of fresh air but at the same time, there are some real challenges in using a feature phone in 2022. I used the Nokia 5710 XA as a secondary phone, with my iPhone 14 still being the primary device. But even for a person like me who wants an alternative device, I won’t switch completely to a feature phone. No matter what we say about tech detox, we still need WhatsApp and super-fast connectivity on our devices.”
