Critic consensus
“Whether you call Nokia E63 the economy package - or stimulus package, in the jargon of the day - you're looking at a capable business device. It brings the essential skills of the E71, and only sacrifices looks to round off that sweetly trimmed price tag. The lacking GPS comes closest to but still can't be a definite no-go. Even without it, the E63 is a strong enough offer to consider.Besides, the E63 is not all about downgrading the E71. Whether Nokia want to expand the reach of their Enterprise lineup just like they do with the Nseries, or try to secure some mass demand for a truly elaborate and capable device like the E71, the result looks worth it and we are sure it will get as popular as E51.”
“To tell you the truth we were a bit prejudiced about the E63, since it is basically a simplified version of the E71. Still, targeted at the social crowd, doesn’t disappoint us and although the plastic body its quality is quite high. The only functional change is the lack of a GPS for navigation, and the worse camera is completely acceptable, since that of the E71 isn’t really any better. In its relatively compact body the E63 packs the high functionality of an E-series S60 smartphone with a handy hardware keyboard (even though it has some small drawbacks), making it a preferable device for the heavy messagers. Whether or not it’s worth it depends on whether you like its appearance and price. It is significantly cheaper and if you don’t need a GPS then this certainly should be a phone to consider. An alternative is the Motorola Q9h, which has a slightly better keyboard and is based on the Windows Mobile operating system.”
“The Nokia E63 is a good phone that delivers a competent texting and email experience, but it's E71 predecessor is better, offering more features and greater finesse. If you want a smart phone that stands out from the crowd, however, the colourful E63 is worth checking out.”
“I was pleasantly surprised by this medium budget smartphone, which targets people that are looking for a cheap business phone. If the lack of a GPS receiver is not a big problem, nor the low quality camera, this might come to be more useful than E71 in terms of value for money. I would definitely recommend fans of the Eseries to try one, if they don't have money for the better and more expensive E71 version. The GoodThe main attraction of the phone is the low price compared with its technical features. Also, I would like to mention that every feature embedded worked excellent, with only one exception – the camera. There's a long list of goodies that should be mentioned here offered for such a low price: Wi-Fi, 3G technology, Bluetooth A2DP, QWERTY keypad. The BadWhile design of the smartphone will not appeal at first sight, because of the 3mm above 10 in thickness, I'm sure that it won't hurt it either. Another drawback is the low quality camera. Still, this can be excused, as the phone targets businessmen, who are not that fond of camera phones.”
