Critic consensus
“The TCL 20 Pro 5G ($549) is one of the best-looking smartphones we’ve seen in a long time, and it does just about everything you'd want a phone to do, at half the price of some comparable handsets.”
“A budget smartphone with four years of software support was a pipe dream in 2020, but it's reality now. The TCL 20 Pro 5G isn't a bad pick, but phones like the Pixel 4A 5G and Galaxy A52 5G will stay secure and get new features for longer. Plus, they have more robust 5G connectivity. I'm hoping TCL's third try in 2022 will make its budget phones the ones to beat. But for that, it needs to work on its image processing, and it should consider extending the length of support it provides for its devices. As they say, the third time's a charm.”
“Beyond the beauty, this phone features a lot of great technology to help you get work done, protect your eyes from display fatigue, and keep you connected with 5G technology.”
“The underwhelming battery life, poor rear cameras, and slow charging make the TCL 20 Pro hard to recommend. The impressive display and good-looking design make the phone a joy to look at, but they still don’t make up for these obvious shortcomings. If you are looking for a premium experience at a fraction of the cost it's not the worst option, but there are better alternatives out there.”
