Critic consensus
“The display of the Alcatel OneTouch Pop 7 – it is really of very poor quality, with low resolution, awful colors, and bad reflexive glass that makes it hard to read when the sun is shining. It really is the deal breaker. Otherwise, the Pop 7 is a decent budget tablet that has nice build, reasonable specs, and doesn't feel underpowered or unpleasant to use. Most importantly, it's 3G-connected. So, if you are looking for an affordable, 3G-connected slate to use on the go, there are not many other options. Its bigger brother, the Pop 8, has an excellent display in comparison, but is also much pricier at about $275 for the HSPA-enabled version. However, if you don't really need the 3G-connectivity that much, you better scratch the Pop 7 off your list, because the price range below $200 offers formidable Wi-Fi-only tablets. For example, the Dell Venue 7 and 8 dance circles around the Pop 7 with their HD displays, Intel CPUs and 2GB of RAM. And if you are willing to wait until May, Lenovo recently announced an affordable trio of Wi-Fi-only and 3G tablets with 720p displays and quad-core processors that might be worth considering – we still don't know the 3G-connected variants' prices, nor how they perform. And, there's always the Amazon Kindle Fire HD – it's hard to miss the retailer's devices these days.”

I drive for Uber and have an iPhone 5 and an iPad mini. The iPhone has such a small screen that made following the gps a strain, and the Uber driver app doesn't support the iPad. So I went to T-Mobile and got the Alcatel Onetouch P310A. Right away I noticed that it sometimes would not charge whil...
In Depth
While Alcatel One Touch Pop 7 cannot claim that it is the lightest and thinnest tablet, it is respectably thin at 0.35 inches and weighs only 285 grams. Design-wise those are the only two features that made a slight impression on reviewers. Its design doesn’t really stand out and reviewers brushed it off as “pedestrian” albeit functional. There are, however, a wide variety of colors available for the removable back panel.
The 7-inch display dominates the front of the tablet. With a resolution of 1024 x 600 pixels and a pixel density of 170ppi, it is a huge downgrade even in the budget category. Experts noticed that icons, fine text and even 1080p videos were pixelated. On top of that, due to the highly reflexive glass on the screen, they could barely read anything in bright light with the poor viewing angles making it even more difficult.
As a budget device, the Pop 7 doesn’t come with high end specs. Instead it performs on a 1.3GHz dual-core processor and 1 GB of RAM. While underpowered compared to higher end tablets, critics were didn’t experience any crashes or lag when navigating the home screen or playing casual games. They did run into issues once they started playing more graphics-intensive games. A 3,250mAh battery keeps the device humming along and experts clocked battery life at around 6 hours. Besides this, the Pop 7 comes with up to 8GB of internal storage, 3-G connectivity, a 2MP rear camera and a microSD expansion slot.
Despite having decent performance and 3G connectivity, reviewers cannot recommend the Pop 7. Phonearena states, “…the display…is the deal breaker…if you don’t really need the 3G connectivity, you better scratch the Pop 7 off your list…”
