“There are some aspects that would speak for an upgrade from the predecessor: First of all, the chassis is once again lighter and thinner but did not lose any stability, and it is still the benchmark in respect of material and build quality. Apple also improved the display a bit. It is now fully laminated, which results in fewer reflections. It is also possible that the improved measurements are a direct result. There is still room for improvement in terms of black value and contrast, but it is certainly a convincing display. The colors are among the best that are currently available on the market. By the way, this is also true for the GPS sensor, which can even beat our reference navigation device. Other improvements over the iPad Mini 3 are the updated wireless modules as well as the cameras, even though the latter still create satisfying results at best and certainly do not justify an upgrade. The situation changes when we look at the performance of the current generation, which is much higher now. The new Mini cannot compete with the iPad Air 2, but it easily beats the predecessor in every test. This is also the case for the longer battery runtimes, despite the higher performance and the lower battery capacity.”
“The Apple iPad mini 4 is a top-notch small-screen tablet with unparalleled build quality and app support, but it's still hard to juThe iPad mini 4 is an excellent choice in a category that's slowly being replaced by larger phones like the 5.5-inch iPhone 6 Plus and the 5.7-inch Galaxy Note 5. Starting at $399, the mini 4 attempts to warrant its hefty price tag with a high-quality screen, a premium build, and Apple's unbeatable app selection. And it mostly succeeds. That said, the iPad mini 2 is still available at a considerable discount, and while it won't run iOS 9 with quite the same smoothness, it's still an attractive option when you consider what you actually do with a tablet: browse the Web, watch movies, answer emails, and maybe play some games. For most people it's a better choice.stify the jump in price over the iPad mini 2.”
“The iPad Mini 4 is what Apple should have put out last year as the iPad Mini 3. That tablet added TouchID and the limited, app-only form of Apple Pay to the iPad Mini 2 and then charged an extra $100 for them. This one provides a real upgrade—TouchID, yes, but also a jump from the A7 to the A8, an extra gigabyte of memory that lets you make full use of iOS 9’s multitasking features, and a display that can finally match the one on the full-sized iPad in every respect.”
“Anyone looking for a compact sized tablet will be delighted by what the iPad mini 4 brings to the table. It’s premium in its construction, nearly flawless with its processing performance, and all the new goodies included with iOS 9 undeniably elevates it to a higher level that we haven’t seen before in the series – one that finally gives us true multi-tasking, as opposed to the apps switching experience we’ve been accustomed to having. Everything about the iPad mini 4 points to a solid recommendation. But is it a compelling upgrade option? At the very least, you’re going to shell out $399.00 to pick up the iPad mini 4, which is a Wi-Fi only model with a pathetic 16GB of internal storage. The price, of course, can go up to as much as $729.00 for the 128GB model with cellular connectivity. Needless to say, if you're currently sporting an iPad mini 3, or even 2, and don't notice any meaningful problems with their operation, you might want to hold off from getting the mini 4 – sure, it upgrades the hardware across the board and has side by side multitasking, but that doesn't seem to be that much of an incentive to upgrade from its still rather solid predecessors.”

For the money, I believe this battery is a good buy. However, it's working time is less than the one of the original battery.
In Depth
The iPad Mini 3 was a bit of a letdown for many reviewers as it barely improved upon the iPad Mini 2. They were expecting more of the same with the iPad Mini 4, but were pleasantly surprised with all of the new tweaks and upgrades. At first glance, the Mini 4 looks almost identical to its predecessor in terms of overall design. It is slightly thinner at 0.2 inches and lighter, but also a tad taller. Besides some tweaks to the dimensions, the only other noticeable hardware change is the lack of orientation lock/mute switch. Design-wise, the Mini 4 maintains the same metal-and-glass construction and curved edges as Apple’s other tablets and smartphones.
The 7.9-inch display offers the same 2048 x 1536 pixel resolution as previous generations of the Mini. Apple has laminated the screen, eliminating the air gap between the display and glass. For many critics, this provided a much richer user experience as it made them feel as though they were directly interacting with the apps and iOS itself with nothing in the way. Not to mention this change also provided them with less glare for a better reading experience and sunlight legibility. The biggest update for the display, however, is the increased color range. Whereas the Mini 3 could only show 67 percent of the color gamut, the Mini 4 hits an impressive 99.8 percent. Still, experts found Samsung tablets had better color accuracy though they add the Mini 4 still offers very vibrant colors.
Internally, the Mini 4 has 2GB of RAM and 1.5GHz A8 dual-core processor. Apple boasts the latest chip boasts a 30 percent speed gain over the Mini 3 and a 60 percent jump in graphics performance. When put to the test experts did notice apps opened slightly faster, but also add there was some slight stutters when utilizing Split View and app switcher. For the most part though, they did not experience any other lag outside of these tasks. The Next Web states, “With graphics-heavy games…A8 SoC executed flawlessly.” The Mini 4 actually comes with a smaller battery than even the Mini 2, but thanks to a more power-efficient processor it actually provided critics with around 10 hours of moderate use.
Perhaps the biggest upgrade is the 8MP camera. It is actually the same camera as found on the iPad Air 2 and reviewers were similarly able to capture excellent photos. While bright light conditions led to colorful and detailed photos, the camera still provided fairly accurate though somewhat grainy low light images. While not on the same par as the iPhone 6 or 6S, most agree it is more than adequate for a tablet.
Overall, reviewers highly recommend the iPad Mini 4 for people looking for a more compact tablet. The Verge states, “…this is the best small tablet Apple has ever made.” Ars Technica adds, “…if you’re a heavy tablet user with an appetite for games and apps and you’ve been waiting for a mini tablet…the iPad Mini 4 is probably the best thing you can buy right now.”
