“The test model can hold its own. The times are gone when starting a program would take ages and the user would have to wait patiently while a blank window in front of him slowly added content. Bay Trail makes the tablets fit for multi-tasking. Up till today, we recommended staying away from the Intel Atom tablets as they could not offer a smooth Windows experience, but this 10 inch model from HP has changed our mind. It is cheaper than the Clovertrail tablets and performs far better. The test model is equipped with a Full HD panel with strong colors and the run times of up to 5 hours are acceptable. The 8 MP main camera captures decent pictures and finally MS Office is a nice addition”

“The Omni 10 is powered by the new quad-core ‘Bay Trail’ Atom Z3770, 32GB of flash and 2GB of RAM, but it’s the 10-inch/1920×1200-pixel panel that is the surprise packet here. It’s remarkably good, given the price tag. Battery life from its 8500mAh battery turned out at a tick under nine hours, which is nothing to sneeze at and better than a few Android models we’ve tested. We’re further impressed the HP Omni 10 does all of this with an iPad 3-like 648-grams weight.There’s no USB charging, instead you use a supplied DC-plugged power brick.Running the Windows 8 desktop without a stylus is still a bit of a problem, but with HDMI, USB-OTG, decent battery life and good speed, it looks like the Wintel alliance still has a trick or two to show those market young’uns.”

“The HP Omni10 is a good budget-friendly content-consumption device out of the box when compared to other Windows 8 tablets. If buyers want to use the device as a PC content-creation unit, one would need to add an additional $99 annual Office365 subscription or other third-party web-based office productivity apps.The tablet could use an external Bluetooth keyboard and stand to make it into a workhorse in order to cross it over from a consumer consumption device to a business productivity tool.”
