Verizon to charge $10 a month for iPhone Handoff
Key points
- Verizon will charge $10 per month for iPhone Handoff, a feature Apple added in iOS 27.
- iPhone Handoff lets one phone number be shared across two iPhones. The number can only be active on one of them at a time.
- Verizon says the feature will work with the iPhone Duo and the iPhone 18 Pro models.
- Devices must be running iOS 27.
- Verizon says support is "coming soon" and has not given a date.
- AT&T has recently suggested it has no imminent plans to support the feature.
The pricing came from Verizon itself. It was included in the carrier’s iPhone Duo announcement on October 16, so the $10 fee is confirmed, not rumoured. Apple had said earlier that Verizon would adopt the feature before the end of the year.
Verizon is not the first to set a price. 9to5Mac notes that T-Mobile and Deutsche Telekom announced their fees before it did. MacRumors reports that T-Mobile charges $5 per month for the same feature, which makes Verizon’s fee twice as high. In the UK, MacRumors says EE customers on the Full Works Plus plan get it free, and other EE users pay £5 per month. The coverage does not say why the fees differ.
Verizon’s fee and the AT&T position leave the three big US carriers in different places on the feature. No launch date has been given for Verizon, only “coming soon”.
