Critic consensus
“Cute, sweet, or tiny are the first associations with the iPhone 12 mini, but the smallest smartphone in the series is technically a heavyweight.”
“The iPhone 12 mini is suitable for everyday use, and none of its shortcomings matter if you are after this particular extra small size. It can take high-quality photos and videos, it is great for videos or reading, and it will last you through a busy day on a single charge. Gaming is good, too, unless it's a very demanding app where the poor heat dissipation may lead to a bottleneck for a couple of minutes. Aside from being compact, the iPhone 12 mini's other virtue is the fact that it's the cheapest of the iPhone 12's.”
“If you despise large phones and look forward to the day the trend of larger displays vanishes, then the iPhone 12 Mini is for you. By the end of my week of testing, I found myself truly enjoying the pocketable size of the Mini. I know I'm dreaming of the day Apple makes a small iPhone with a three-camera array and Lidar sensor.”
“Apple's iPhone 12 Mini is one of the best small phones you can buy. And at $700, it's a no-brainer for anyone who wants a tiny but powerful handset running iOS.”
