“The Huawei Ascend P7 surely does at least one thing right - stand out visually in the Android crowd. Even though that comes at the expense of being called an iPhone copycat - both in terms of looks and UI logic - we are sure this would eventually work out in their favor. Here's hoping Apple doesn't go after them, after it's finished its patent wars with Samsung. Overall, the Ascend P7 is a fine upgrade over its now-outdated P6 predecessor, but in the grand scheme of Android rivalry it didn't get the package quite right. Besides the chipset performance, the 13MP camera with 1080p video recording is not flagship material either. Outside of the Asian market, we can't help but draw comparisons with 2013 flagships. If you've had a Huawei before or are willing to give it a chance, the P7 certainly has its charms, which it shares with some of its neighbors. Still, the midrange is where a lot of Android darlings live and the Ascend P7 might as well make itself at home - assuming Huawei quickly drops the price to more competitive levels.”
“Huawei does not penetrate the top-of-the-line smartphone sector with its Ascend P7. It simply lacks the first rate components, such as a competitively swift SoC with a high-performance graphics chip. The elegant, timeless design and the excellent build would throughout be competitive in this sector though. Its intuitive use alongside the generous included software, the good speech quality, and the wireless modules' consistently good reception convinced us - keyword: LTE. The Ascend P7 reaps also reaps in points with its bright, viewing angle, and high-resolution IPS Full HD screen. Furthermore, the latest Android 4.42 KitKat, a large flash storage that can also be expanded via a micro-SD card, and all relevant interfaces are also on board. Even more so with NFC and DLNA. The always pleasant surface temperatures are also positive, and the battery runtimes are just as solid, though they could be longer especially in the comparison. The smartphone is not as pricey as most contenders.Cuts have then been made in the SoC that is strong enough for most everyday situations, but that seems a bit sluggish for a flagship and cannot reach the premium sector. The camera modules do not provide top notch performance, and the small speaker that does not actually do a bad job, but does not present an exceptional performance either. It is too bad that although the Wi-Fi module always functions reliably, it does not provide the really high-speed ac standard.”
“Huawei has a real winner in the Ascend P7. It may not have the same ultra high-end specs as the LG G3, HTC One M8, Samsung Galaxy S5, or other flagship Android smartphones, but it offers strong performance and adds a nice build quality to the mix. The P7 also happens to be a couple hundreds of dollars cheaper. The Ascend P7 is one of the best smartphones made by Huawei so far and it proves that the Chinese company has what it takes to make a true flagship.”
“While the Huawei Ascend P7 has an acceptable lineup of specs and a super-slim body, it doesn't really offer a huge amount to really get excited about. Although it's a bit cheaper than current flagships like the S5 or Sony Xperia Z2, Huawei would have been wise to make it even more affordable to give customers a definite reason to opt for a phone with less brand appeal than Sony, Samsung or Apple. The P7 is a decent all-rounder though and is worth considering, particularly if you can pick it up on a good-value contract. Alternatively though, it's worth looking towards last year's flagships like the Sony Xperia Z1 or Galaxy S4, both of which have more powerful components for roughly the same price as the P7 and, in the case of the Z1 at least, a waterproof design.”
