Huawei Mate Xs

“While the Huawei Mate Xs is an attractive foldable, it does not appear to be mature in all areas yet. The Huawei Mate Xs certainly is not a device for everyone. The high price will likely be enough to deter most prospective buyers. That being said, it is still an appealing concept that in this case has been paired with many powerful components, which turn it into a unique smartphone that is sure to attract attention.”

“The Mate Xs is a logical release as it's now more refined than its predecessor and also bringing fresh hardware to compete with the rest of the foldable alternatives. After all, the Kirin 990 5G offers top-notch performance and uncompromising 5G connectivity. On the other hand, even if Huawei launched the Mate Xs to be able to compete with more up-to-date hardware, the handset is still lacking Google Services, which in turn makes the smartphone hard to sell.”

“It is just an amazing device that pushes the envelope in more ways than one, offering a glimpse into one potential future for the industry. It's the definition of a halo product for both Huawei and folding display tech, not only showcasing what is possible but also pushing it forward and actually getting into the point of relative viability as an end-user product.”

“When it comes to design and hardware, we found the Mate Xs to be a stunner. A big 6+ phone when closed, a veritable 8 tablet when opened - that's what foldable phones were supposed to bring, and Huawei still managed to keep things relatively thin and small. Performance is snappy, pictures and video are good, and the tailored-for-foldables interface has some interesting layout ideas.”
