LG Tribute 5

“The LG K7 feels solid, offers good network connectivity, and can run most basic apps for $140. That might have been good enough a couple of years ago, but it's lacking in many departments compared with a lot of the affordable unlocked phones available today.”

“For $100, the LG Tribute 5 is a nice-looking phone that can handle the basic needs of casual users. You'll get similar performance from the Hydro Reach, with the added benefit of a waterproof build, although its camera and battery life are even worse than those of the Tribute 5. For the same price, the Moto E gets you near-stock Android software, faster performance, and better battery life, so it remains our Editors' Choice for entry-level smartphones on Boost.”

“The Tribute 5 would be an amazing bargain for selfie-loving smartphone shoppers if its front camera produced consistently good-looking pictures. But without that selling point, the phone's other meager specs look that much more subpar.”

“If your priority is a handset that delivers a good in-hand experience that is also inexpensive, attractive, and flexible (battery, memory card), then the Tribute 5 fits those bills. I found the screen and sound quality lacking, but battery life is quite good. The Android operating system functions well enough, but it stutters from time to time and some apps (camera, maps) are too slow for me.”
