About the brand

About LG

Few cell phone manufacturers have received as much attention as LG over the past several years, mainly because they keep coming out with great devices. LG is responsible in large part for turning cell phones into show phones, with sexy form factors, brushed metal fascias and functionality to back up the good looks.

LG is an enormous multinational corporation with 75 subsidiaries throughout the world, but their cell phone division has truly been one of their showpieces. You may be familiar with the “Shine Line” of phones that include a number of shiny flips and sliders that have racked up huge sales for carriers.

By 2005 LG was a Top 100 global brand. In addition to great cell phones, LG is the largest manufacturer of liquid crystal displays.

The company got its start in 1958 under the name GoldStar, making radios, TVs, refrigerators, washing machines and air conditioners.

I had this issue with when I plugged it into my computer it would just charge. Thanks to the helpful info on here I was able to put the micro sd card from my husbands phone into this phone. then plug into the computer and choose the "mass storage" option that came up. Then it pretty much was acting like it was a flash drive and I was able to get the pics onto my computer very quickly and easily. it is too bad they don't tell you that when you purchase the phone, I also couldn't find anything about retrieving pics in the user manual. oh well, I will be getting a new phone soon, hopefully I wont have any issue with this in the future. getting a smart phone now. :)

There is a way to do this even if you no longer have cell service or bluetooth. First, you must install a memory card. Then go into Pictures and open the drop down menu on the upper right corner. From that menu select copy and select what pics you're trying to get. Then copy to the Memory card (there'll be a tab for phone memory or memory card). Indicate that your directing the save to Pictures (and then Paste). It'll let you know it copied. Now using an USB cable connect your phone to a computer (your computer should recognize a connection has been made). An "Auto Play" menu appeared for me. From that menu I selected "open folder to view files" from there you can save pics onto your computer.

Hi Joe. The LG Revere was not designed to transfer media to your PC via a USB connection, but there is a way to do it. I found this technique for you to be able to transfer your photos to your computer.

Download and install BitPim, you can find it free yourself or click this link.

Plug your VN150 into your PC with the USB cable and make sure it is turned on.

Launch BitPim

In BitPim, go to the View in the top menu bar and click on View File System.

Go to the Edit drop down in the top menu bar and click on Settings
Change the phone type to LG-VX5500 and click Ok.

In the left screen click on Filesystem

In the middle screen click on +Folder
Then click on the +Synched folder
Then the my_pictures folder

Your picture files will be displayed in the right screen and you can right click on each one and save them to your PC.

Hope it works for you!

I tried this and the program BitPim would not find this phone but it fount my phone by letting it search for other. After the pics were downloaded I could not open them until I saved the in my documents and then double clicked on the number that was assigned to that particular picture.

I even chatted with a representative of LG products and he said that you could not transfer the pictures to a computer. I guess you have proved him wrong.

Thank you so very much for your info.

Connect your phone to your computer using a USB cable. Once connected, your phone's memory card will shop up in "My Computer" as a removable storage. You can then move files from and to your phone.

Hi Nancy, when you say main screen, are you referring to the home screen of the phone or just the lock screen? If it's the former, just swipe down from the notifications bar on the top of the screen and then tap on the button near the top right corner that looks like three parallel bars. If it's the latter, go to Settings > Display and remove the check mark on the box next to "Lock screen notifications." Let us know if either of these tips help take care of the issue!

David,

I got rid of it finally by hitting every feature i could find but will keep your answer for if it happens again. I was referring to the lock screen.

Thanks for your help. Much appreciated.

I found out that it is only when someone with an I phone sends a text. They will need to go into their settings and turn off "I message" then after they send you a text they can turn it back on. They should do it... I have no problems now...

Hope this helps..

Hey gary. Contact your service provider to report your problem. This could be an issue on their end. Also consider checking your phone signal. Make sure you have signal or call and text messages won't come in.

It has a very rudimentary form that only works well for sending messages. Open the address book application and on the top of the screen click on All Contacts and then select groups. them title your desired group and add the numbers you wish.

Hi Bob! You can download a copy of the manual in LG Revere's Product Page found here in Cell phones etc. You can find the download link on the right side of the page.

Try this:

1. Dial *#61# from your phone. Tap Send.

2. You should see a new screen that displays a bunch of information about what's getting forwarded. You should see a line under "Voice Call Forwarding" that says "Forwards to +11234567890" (where 11234567890 is an eleven digit phone number, likely different from your phone number). Write down this number and tap Dismiss.

3. Now, dial **61*+11234567890*11*XX# and hit Send, where 11234567890 is the number that you found in step two and XX is the number of seconds you want to wait until voicemail picks up. You can set it in increments of 5, where 30 seconds is the maximum.

Alternatively, you should be able to call AT&T or T-Mobile customer service and have them change it from their end, if you're uncomfortable doing it yourself. source

If you have ringtones saved in your memory card, your phone should be able to detect them and include them in your list of ringtones.

Based on the user manual, the only way to transfer photos is through picture messaging and Bluetooth transfer. For instructions on sending picture messages, click here. For sending through Bluetooth, click here.
