“The Motorola Edge 70 arguably boasts the best design among today's ultra-slim smartphones. Its premium build delivers everything - upscale design, increased water and drop resistance, and one of the most comfortable grips in a long time. And on top of that, it's impressively thin.”

“The Edge 70 offers the dependable battery life I’ve been craving from ultra-slim phones, combining it with the best design yet and a more affordable price tag. But with compromised cameras and software that’s now doing more harm than good, it’s hard to recommend.”

“As a new competitor in the thin-phone race, the Motorola Edge 70 undercuts its rivals on price. But when looking at the phone as the sum of its parts, it's hard to recommend. That price is still hard to justify when considering the specs on offer, and there are a few other issues, including bloatware and spec downgrades. The Edge 70 has me lamenting the phone we could have had if Moto hadn't prioritized thinness over value for money.”

“The Motorola Edge 70, for all its few flaws in-between, is a slim phone done right. Aside from the exceptional design language that I absolutely love, the Moto Edge 70 has a lovely screen, and while performance is nothing to write home about, it didn't irked me as much as the synthetic benchmarks would otherwise suggest. And definitely props to Motorola for not cutting any corners in the battery department, the crux of this generation of thin phones like the iPhone Air or the Galaxy S25 Edge. It surely felt quite refreshing to use a device that combines an ultra-thin build with a more than adequate battery and great endurance.”

In Depth

Design

The Edge 70’s design stands out with its minimalist and modern touch. At a mere 159 g, it’s remarkably light, making it an easy carry. The phone’s thickness of 5.99 mm contributes to its sleekness without feeling fragile. Reviewers noted, “holding it feels like holding paper,” highlighting its astonishing yet practical build.

The back panel uses a unique textured silicone finish, not only offering enhanced grip but also adding a distinct tactility compared to typical glass panels. Combine this with Pantone-approved colors, and you have a phone that not only looks stylish but is functional too.

Display(s)

The 6.7-inch pOLED screen on this phone offers a beautiful, flat viewing surface that eliminates those pesky accidental touches you often experience with curved displays. Its 120Hz refresh rate ensures smooth scrolling and a pleasurable interaction with your apps and media.

Reviewers from Creative Bloq found that its “impressive colour reproduction” with HDR10+ support showcases movies and photos in wonderful, lifelike quality. Even in direct sunlight, you’ll have no trouble reading the screen thanks to its high brightness.

Motorola brilliantly merges practicality with stunning visual output, making it a top contender for anyone seeking comfort in everyday phone use.

Performance

The Motorola Edge 70 uses the Snapdragon 7 Gen 4 processor, offering reliable everyday performance. You will experience smooth operations during multitasking, web browsing, and light gaming.

With 12GB of RAM, the phone handles multiple apps with ease, providing a fluid experience without noticeable slowdowns. Experts highlight the strength of its AI capabilities, which enhance performance and user interaction.

While not a powerhouse for gaming, the Edge 70 ensures a smooth and efficient experience for social media, streaming, and communication.

Software & Storage

Running on Android 16, the Edge 70 offers a closer-to-stock interface, appealing to those who prefer simplicity and ease of use. Reviewers have noted the bloatware, which can feel unwelcome given its premium pricing, but most apps can be uninstalled.

The phone promises four years of Android OS updates and five years of security updates, providing a respectable support period that’s on par with industry standards but doesn’t match the longer cycles of brands like Google and Samsung.

Overall, while the software experience can be slightly cluttered at first, it remains a clean and reliable system following initial setup and personalization.

Cameras

The Edge 70 provides a compelling camera experience with its 50MP main camera and ultra-wide, promising good detail and vibrant colors, especially in bright conditions. While the ultrawide shots lack detailed finesse and there’s no telephoto lens, the main camera compensates with rich daytime snaps.

Experts appreciate the AI enhancements for color accuracy and note its performance in varying lighting conditions, saying “the edge detects fur textures and sparkles with clarity.” Although perfect for casual photos, video tops out at 4K 30fps, making it less ideal for high-end video needs.

Battery

The phone’s 4800mAh silicon-carbon battery is engineered for extended use and efficiency, offering peace of mind for your daily adventures, from mornings filled with meetings to evenings packed with your favorite shows.

Several reviews highlight its impressive capacity, often stretching beyond a full day of intensive usage. “The Edge 70 delivers solid all-day endurance,” Creative Bloq reports, ensuring you stay connected without stress.

The 68W wired charging significantly reduces downtime, powering up your device swiftly so you’re ready to tackle what matters most without waiting around. Remember that high-speed boosts require the official Motorola charger, which keeps your phone charged and your schedule unaffected.

Audio

The stereo speakers with Dolby Atmos provide immersive sound ideal for movies and games. Experts note that “the sound is warm and pleasing,” making your entertainment experience enjoyable.

While making calls, the phone’s dual microphones ensure your voice is captured clearly, reducing noise. Reviewers commented, “the audio quality is clear for conversations and recordings.” This clarity allows you to communicate effectively even in busy environments.

However, the bass doesn’t pack a punch, which might affect music with deep tones. Despite this, most users find the overall audio experience satisfying for everyday use.

The Bottom Line

This phone stands out with its ultra-thin design and lightweight build, making it easy to carry and use throughout the day.

The design is durable and stylish, with Pantone-approved colors adding to its appeal. Most users praise its battery life, with a solid performance that outshines other slim options. “The Edge 70 offers the dependable battery life I’ve been craving from ultra-slim phones,” says a reviewer.

While you get good everyday performance and an enjoyable user interface, its mid-range processor limits gaming and video capabilities. The camera performs adequately for social media but may not satisfy those looking for pro-level photography.
