OnePlus 8 Pro

“The OnePlus 8 Pro is a solid smartphone packed with a well-improved camera and all the top features that you'd expect from a flagship like reverse wireless charging, stereo speakers, and a top-of-the-line display with 120Hz refresh rate. Top performance from the Snapdragon 865 and 5G connectivity are must-haves in this space, but where OnePlus is no longer competing is in the very space it began.”

“High performance values, no throttling and no more crashes under sustained load, coupled with usable battery life, fast charging, current software and speedier storage. What more could you want? Well, OnePlus could improve call quality and reduce surface temperatures, which remain rather high. Overall, however, OnePlus has produced an excellent flagship smartphone that now also fulfils fan requests of IP certification and wireless charging.”

“With this iteration, the OnePlus 8 Pro is the m ost expensive OnePlus device to date. Over the last few years, it's slowly crept up in price and with 5G now a standard feature, its cost needed to go up as a result, further driving the company away from its original image of high power at ridiculously low cost. Once called the Flagship killer the OnePlus 8 has become what the company initially tried to beat.”

“The OnePlus 8 Pro is... fine. It's not the slam-dunk value champion that past OnePlus smartphones have been, and it loses some appeal thanks to the lack of a pop-up camera and a blemish-free screen. If you're in the market for a 2020 Android flagship, this is still the best. Particularly when compared to the Galaxy S20+, the 8 Pro is a better phone and costs hundreds less. But compared to the OnePlus 7 Pro, the 8 Pro doesn't feel like something that's worth $230 extra.”
