Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra

Design

The design looks similar to last year’s model, distinguished mainly by subtler curved sides. This change improves grip and comfort, mainly for using the S Pen. Reviewers from Android Central highlighted “it’s a subtle but substantially better design,” while experts appreciated how flattening the sides makes the phone feel less slippery.

The bezeless flat screen offers a luxurious look. However, the design may still feel large in hand for some, according to NextPit. Overall, the elegant look holds up despite minor tweaks.

Display(s)

The screen shines with rich colors and sharp details, powered by a vibrant and adaptive panel that adjusts its refresh rate up to 120Hz for smooth visuals, enhancing gaming, scrolling, and general usage. The highest brightness of 1750 nits and HDR support ensures clarity even in bright sunlight.

You’ll appreciate the display’s energy-saving tech, which steps down the refresh rate to 1Hz when static images, like reading, are on screen, extending battery life without missing a beat. “The display is one of the phone’s best features,” according to experts, with impressive power efficiency and vivid visual quality that enhances any task.

Performance

The phone is powered by a tailored Snapdragon processor, ensuring smooth performance for any app or game. Even under heavy use, like graphic-intensive gaming, it maintains responsive and fast operation. Reviewers highlight the absence of overheating and stable speed during extended sessions.

This is not just about speed; it’s about seamless operation throughout the day. The efficient processor also helps extend battery life, so you never feel the need to reach for the charger too frequently. As the experts at NextPit put it, “Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 makes all the difference” between good and exceptional smartphone performance, while Android Central emphasizes its meaningful upgrade over last year’s model, enhancing your entire user experience.

Software & Storage

One UI 5.1 brings enhanced personalization options, allowing you to tailor your lock screen and display settings effortlessly.

With new features like Modes and Routines, you can automate tasks depending on your activity or time, creating a focused digital environment easily.

The user-friendly interface makes for smooth navigation, while updates ensure the latest security measures and features are implemented for years to come, with Samsung experts stating there will be four system upgrades and five years of security fixes.

Cameras

The Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra’s 200MP main camera is a powerhouse, capturing superbly detailed shots with vibrant colors. Reviewers praise its low-light performance and clarity, outshining lesser phones. Yet, there’s a softness in fast-action shots due to slight shutter lag.

Switching to the ultrawide and telephoto lenses provides flexibility but sacrifices some resolution, making them ideal for varied photography rather than ultimate quality. The telephoto zooms up to a staggering 100x, turning distant views into up-close captures with surprising ease.

Overall, despite certain quirks, professional reviewers have described the Galaxy S23 Ultra as offering “one of the best smartphone camera systems available,” asserting its premium status among mobile photography enthusiasts.

Battery

The device delivers impressive all-day battery life, making it perfect for those who need reliability and power throughout the day. With a generous 5,000mAh battery, you can count on many hours of active use, a relief for users who fear constant charging.

The phone supports speedy 45W wired charging, allowing it to reach a full battery in less than an hour, significantly reducing downtime. This quick charging capability is an essential feature for busy individuals who can’t afford lengthy interruptions in their day.

Android Central stated, “It’s got up to 2-day battery life,” emphasizing its ability to keep you connected longer without anxiety. Fast charging and wireless options round off the experience, making it a great choice for active, on-the-go lifestyles.

Audio

The Galaxy S23 Ultra is equipped with dual speakers optimized by AKG, delivering a full, rich sound for an immersive entertainment experience. Music and movies sound robust, making your entertainment captivating whether you’re watching or listening.

In terms of call quality, the phone exhibits “excellent voice quality” with natural sound reproduction and effective noise cancellation, according to Android Central. This ensures your conversations remain clear even in crowded or noisy environments, enhancing daily communication for users who frequently make calls in different settings.

The speakers support Dolby Atmos, adding depth to your audio, which enriches the overall experience of gameplay and cinematic audio. Users also benefit from Bluetooth 5.3 for reliable wireless audio streaming.

The Bottom Line

This phone’s main camera with 200MP excels in detail and low-light conditions, making it a robust choice for photography enthusiasts. While its performance remains snappy thanks to a high-powered chipset, Samsung has improved battery performance, ensuring your device lasts longer even during intense use.

With a refined design and built-in stylus support, this phone caters to users seeking high productivity and creativity. As noted by Notebookcheck, “It offers plenty of space and comfort for using the S Pen” for those who desire functionality on the go.
