Xiaomi Poco F8 Ultra

Design

The design of the phone is distinctive due to its use of a denim-like material on the back. This unique touch offers a more comfortable and grip-friendly feel than many traditional phones. Reviewers appreciated this expressive material, noting it lends personality to the phone’s appearance.

The camera module spans the width of the phone, providing balance both in appearance and when the phone rests on a flat surface. An ‘Sound by Bose’ detail on the back signifies the premium audio components and adds to its aesthetic appeal. The Poco F8 Ultra is built with strong materials, including an aluminum frame, ensuring durability without feeling cheap or fragile.

Display(s)

The phone’s display stands out with its bright, vivid, and immersive 6.9-inch AMOLED panel, boasting a 120Hz refresh rate for smooth and fluid visuals. At up to 3500 nits, it ensures visibility even in bright sunlight, making it perfect for outdoor use.

Rich colors and sharp details enhance videos and photos, ensuring you get the best viewing experience. One reviewer remarked, “The colors and sharpness are great…vibrant and rich without being excessively oversaturated,” highlighting the screen’s visual appeal for media lovers.

Dolby Vision and HDR support make content look better than ever, providing an enhanced cinematic experience right in your hand.

Performance

The Poco F8 Ultra stands out for its high performance, powered by the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 processor.

Reviewers highlight its ability to run demanding games smoothly, with one expert noting, “The F8 Ultra performs incredibly well.” Even with long use, it maintains speed without significant heating issues, although “it can get hot during stress tests,” according to experts.

Whether you’re gaming or multitasking, this phone keeps up without interruption, making it a top choice for those seeking consistent and powerful performance.

Software & Storage

The Poco F8 Ultra runs HyperOS 3.0, offering smooth and responsive touch inputs with extensive customization options.

Reviewers note that its design borrows heavily from Apple’s style, missing Google’s pure Android touch. “Xiaomi’s HyperOS isn’t my favorite Android treatment,” one expert shared.

Users report frustration with preinstalled apps, like TikTok and Facebook, which can clutter the experience.

Overall, while fast and versatile, the UI might not suit those who prefer a minimalist setup.

Cameras

The 50MP main camera amazes with vibrant colors and sharp contrasts, enhancing your photo-taking adventures, especially in challenging lighting. Reviewers applaud the phone’s night shot clarity, capturing those elusive starry details beautifully.

While the 5x periscope zoom impresses with clarity up to 10x, users have noted a drop in quality beyond that, so stay cautious with extreme zooms. Experts mention the ultra-wide camera “feels pointless” as it misses the wider angle we often seek in such lenses.

Selfies shine with natural hues, despite minor softness. As reviewers rightly point out, the phone lacks a macro mode for close-ups, but for you, the camera suite is versatile enough to meet most daily needs.

Battery

The Poco F8 Ultra’s 6,500mAh battery comfortably handles a full day’s use, even with intense gaming and streaming. Experts noted, “It comfortably handled heavy gaming, media, and camera use across a day.” This big battery is a boon for those who rely on their phone throughout the day and dread frequent charges.

The phone supports 100W wired charging, getting you a full charge in around 45 minutes, and 50W wireless charging, allowing you to quickly recharge on the go. Reviewers highlighted the convenience of “rapid 100W fast charging”, stressing it as a major benefit for users in need of quick power-ups.

Audio

The Poco F8 Ultra’s sound experience benefits from a partnership with Bose, featuring a 2.1 channel audio system. Reviewers highlight “a solid, weighty low end” that gives games, music, and movies a more present audio landscape, creating an engaging and enriched sound atmosphere.

The phone also delivers impressive sound depth for calls, ensuring clear conversations even in challenging environments. This makes it ideal for both entertainment and communication.

With easy access to diverse sound settings, you can tailor the audio to your taste for different activities, offering a customizable and enjoyable audio experience that stands out among smartphones.

The Bottom Line

This phone offers a solid media experience thanks to its impressive display and audio system. The performance is reliably smooth, suitable for gaming and multimedia tasks, supported by a Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 chip. The battery life holds well with moderately intense use, offering fast charging options.

The camera setup impresses in good lighting but reveals limitations, especially in low light, with noticeable processing. Software remains a sticking point for some, with minor hiccups and pre-installed apps that might require management. Despite these, the phone stands as a worthy contender in its price range, providing ample value with strategic improvements from the previous model.

“An expressive all-rounder that excels at games, media, and photography,” notes an expert, aligning with its intent to serve as a multimedia powerhouse.
