“In all fairness, the RedMagic 11 Air is sort of unique, or at least the segment it targets is. It's a slim gaming phone with some hard-to-come-by gaming features. It can also be a good fit for Android enthusiasts who are looking for a flagship-level performance device with solid battery life at half the price of a flagship phone. In whichever user category you fall into, you will have to deal with a lackluster camera experience and a bit awkward translations across the OS, but these may not be deal breakers depending on where your priorities lie.”

“The RedMagic 11 Air is a good deal - for just $499 you're getting a cool-looking, sleek device, a powerful chipset, and solid battery life. Even if you're not a gamer, you can enjoy some of the gaming features this device has on board, as well.”

“If you're a serious mobile gamer on a budget, the RedMagic 11 Air is hard to beat. For just £439/$499, you get the Snapdragon 8 Elite, active cooling, flashy lighting, a beautiful 144Hz display, and a massive battery.”

“The Redmagic 11 Air is a step forward for the Air range, with more impressive hardware and better cooling, while still maintaining a lighter weight. It’s not quite as formidable as its bigger brother the 11 Pro, but for gaming on the go it’s a very attractive package and price.”

In Depth

Design

The phone’s design stands out with a futuristic translucent back, exposing sleek internal elements and a fan that mimics a camera cutout. This adds a gamer-focused appeal that’s both stylish and unique.

Reviews highlight the slim, lighter design making the phone easier to handle, even with extended use. “It feels great in the hand,” notes a reviewer, appreciating the curved glass and aluminum frame. This attention to ergonomics enhances comfort, especially during longer gaming sessions.

Display(s)

The RedMagic 11 Air features a 6.85-inch AMOLED display that truly shines with vibrant and saturated colors. This display stands out with its ability to show incredible detail and depth. A 144Hz refresh rate ensures that scrolling and gaming feel exceptionally smooth, enhancing your overall mobile experience.

Reviewers lauded its brightness capacity, reaching up to 1800 nits. This means you’ll have no trouble viewing your screen, even in bright sunlight. The thin bezels and a 90.7% screen-to-body ratio make the display feel expansive and immersive.

“The colors on this display are simply stunning,” a reviewer remarked, “it’s a lot more saturated than other panels.” Whether you’re watching videos or playing games, the screen’s impressive quality elevates how content is experienced.

Performance

You’ll enjoy the Snapdragon 8 Elite’s exceptional performance, backed by an impressive 16GB of RAM for smooth and rapid gaming experiences. Reviewers noted its “snappy performance,” even during intense gameplay.

With a built-in cooling fan, it effectively controls temperatures, allowing you to game for extended periods without lag or overheating issues. This means you can maintain a competitive edge in your favorite games.

For a gaming-focused experience, this phone balances power and practicality, crafting a winning blend of performance, style, and efficiency.

Software & Storage

The RedMagic 11 Air features a straightforward UI based on Android 16. It remains uncluttered, allowing you to enjoy your device without sorting through unnecessary applications.

You will find its interface intuitive, resembling standard Android while adding unique gaming features. Reviewers appreciate the lack of bloatware, stating it avoids the hassle of uninstalling unwanted software, which is a common pain point for many users.

If you enjoy gaming, the Game Space feature stands out, offering custom setups for games without overly complicating your experience.

Cameras

If snapping decent daylight photos is your aim, you’ll appreciate the main camera’s 50MP sensor for its clear and vibrant captures. Reviewers indicate images are “soft and blurry” if lighting isn’t favorable, limiting its use in dim conditions. The 8MP ultrawide camera struggles with details, especially in low light. The under-display selfie camera offers a futuristic look but causes softness and blur in selfies, a trade-off for the seamless screen design.

Battery

The 7,000mAh battery offers a day of power even with extensive gaming sessions, making it ideal for gamers and everyday users who rely on their phones for various tasks. You’ll appreciate not having to constantly chase outlets.

Charging is efficient with 80W USB-C fast charging, ensuring your device is back to full in around an hour. “RedMagic does have fast charging here, and we’re talking USB-C and not a proprietary USB-A charger like a lot of other Chinese brands,” describe experts.

While the absence of wireless charging is noted, experts who use the RedMagic 11 Air have said, “With 80W wired charging, it’s just not something I think about often.” This phone aims to keep you connected and away from charging cables as much as possible.

Audio

The sound quality on this phone is described as decent by reviewers. It features a stereo setup where the earpiece doubles as a second speaker. This creates an encompassing effect during movies or games.

The thin body of the phone might contribute to less bass, but its clarity stands out, making dialogue in both calls and media clear. “The sound is not the richest we’ve heard on a smartphone,” experts mention, but it holds its own well below 80% volume.

The phone also features good haptic feedback, which adds to the gaming and entertainment experience by providing responsive vibrations during use. This ensures an engaging and complete audio-visual experience for everyday enjoyment.

The Bottom Line

This phone stands out with a beautiful display and a robust design that feels comfortable even during extended use. The standout feature is its large battery, which supports long gaming sessions and daily activities without frequent charging.
