Critic consensus
“Nubia has made some changes to the RedMagic 7. The latest addition to the gaming series is characterized by the current Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 which remains more stable than other smartphones with this SoC for a longer time due to its cooling system with active ventilation. In return, the user has to put up with a pretty loud fan. The 165 Hz panel makes quite an impression on the spec sheet, but not even a handful of games support this refresh rate, and the 4D vibration is similar. The additional shoulder buttons are a real advantage when gaming and work great. The smartphone has to put up with criticism due to the software support. HFR games are not very numerous for the RedMagic, and the update intervals are very rare and of unknown duration. The transmission speed in the WLAN was also low in the test.”
“The Red Magic 7 is a niche phone, there's no denying it. It also has its strong suits like excellent performance during sustained load, charges really fast, there are a handful of helpful gaming features, pressure-sensitive shoulder triggers, fast 165Hz display and pair of loud, good-sounding speakers. The semi-transparent Supernova back is by far one of the best designs we've seen. It has a rather authentic see-through hardware look in person.”
“The Red Magic 7 is a no-holds-barred gaming phone that offers brilliant gaming performance and an extremely smooth and responsive screen. Unfortunately the camera and battery performance are simply not in the same league as this handset’s strengths.”
“Unless you’re a die-hard gamer, this can be a hard phone to recommend. It’s the ultimate phone hardware — in that, it packs literally everything and the kitchen sink into one robust package — but it isn’t the ultimate phone because of that minute detail that the software is a completely poor experience. If you think you can get over that and all you want is a relatively inexpensive gaming phone, then by all means, the RedMagic 7 might well be worth your money.”
