Samsung rolls out stable One UI 9 to Galaxy S23, Z Fold 5 and Z Flip 5
Key points
- Samsung has started rolling out stable One UI 9, based on Android 17, to some older flagship phones.
- The Galaxy Z Fold 5 and Galaxy Z Flip 5 have received the stable version.
- The Galaxy S23 is also starting to receive stable One UI 9.
- Samsung ended the One UI 9.0 beta program for the Z Fold 5 and Z Flip 5 when it released the stable build.
- Units enrolled in the beta in South Korea appear to be the first to get the update.
The rollout came in stages. The first report, on October 7, said Samsung was starting to bring One UI 9 to some older foldables. By October 14 the update had reached the Galaxy S23 as well, just days after the Galaxy S24 received it. Android Authority describes the S23 as among the oldest qualifying flagships.
The coverage points to South Korea as the starting point, with beta testers there seeming to be first in line. Outlets do not say when other regions will get the update. Rollouts like this usually reach other countries and carriers over time, but the reports here give no schedule.
