Common questions

This message means your Contacts app is syncing with cloud accounts (Google, Mi Cloud) or rebuilding its internal index. Usually it finishes on its own, but sometimes the process gets stuckβ€”especially if you have many contacts or a slow internet connection. Quick Fixes (Try in Order) Restart your phone. This often resolves temporary sync issues. Go to Contacts > Menu (3 dots) > Settings > More > Rebuild Index Data. Wait for the process to completeβ€”this can take 15-20+ minutes depending on how many contacts you have. Check Settings > Accounts and verify that Google and Mi Cloud sync are enabled. Toggle sync off and back on if needed. Go to Settings > Apps > Contacts > Storage > Clear Data, then restart your phone. (Backup your contacts first if possible.) If Issues Persist Ensure your Contacts app has permission to access your contacts and storage. Update both your system software and Contacts app to the latest version. If the problem continues, remove and re-add your Google or Mi Account, or contact Xiaomi support. This issue affects most Redmi and Xiaomi phones running MIUI, not just the Redmi 5S. RetryClaude can make mistakes. Please double-check responses.

It is not a bug. Looks like some voice pack is getting downloaded automatically over your wifi network. Goto Settings > Additional Settings > Language and Input > scroll down and select Text-to-speech output > You will find a Setting icon infront of Google Text-to-Speech engine option. Tap on that Icon > Click on Install Voice data You will get a list of all languages. Select Chinese (China) from the list And Delete the Voice Set that is shown as downloading If you want you can re-download it.

Hmm.. It's the latest. What I would do is go to Settings > Apps > All > Google Play Store > Uninstall Updates > restart phone and wait for Google Play store update again.

A traditional way to transfer files from PC to Xiaomi phone by connecting Xiaomi phone to PC via a USB cable. However, this method only allows you to transmit parts of Xiaomi files, such as photos, music and videos, but it won't transfer contacts, messages, notes, calendars and other file types. Also this method only works in Windows PC, but not Mac book.

I tried this tip and it worked - you have to watch for the pop-up on the phone asking what connection mode you want, e.g. charging, transfer files etc and select the transfer mode

What I read from other users experiencing this is they mildly pressed the area under the camera lens while opening the camera app. Please try that and let us know if that works.

Hi there. Playing games and watching videos heats up the phone fast. Take some rest once it heats up. To reduce heating on your phone, turn off data connection/Wi-Fi when not in use.

Hi Brian. I think you are pertaining to the LED light surrounding the rear camera. Have you checked notification settings? Or go to Settings and search for Notification. Let me know what you find.

Hi Pranav. Which file manager app are you using? Go to Settings -> Apps -> look for the file manager app -> adjust the permissions, look for Storage and enable it. Let me know if that works.
