Hi there. It may be your video player app malfunctioning. Can you try installing another video player app and test if it happens again? I'm using a different phone, I'm currently using MX Player and VLC, never had any problem.

Maybe you are in silent mode? While in standby, press volume up key and max the volume. Also, you should see a bell looking icon when the volume bar shows up, tap it and choose all.
