Critic consensus
“The LG Optimus G Pro would be the favorite in a job interview - it's got a great resume and it answered all the questions correctly. We wouldn't have minded a slightly more exciting design. It's an excellent addition to the higher echelons of the Optimus family.”
“Those looking for a phone that doubles as a camera might want to hold off for a bit. Still, while the Optimus G Pro isn't a point-and-shoot camera, it's an overall solid device. As with all Android phones that aren't a part of the Nexus program, take heed that there's no guarantee when this device will get its Android 4.2 Jelly Bean update. And if you find yourself accustomed to LG's user interface and larger form factor, this phone is worth the space in your pocket.”
“LG’s Optimus G Pro is king of the small—but growing—phone/tablet hybrid market (I refuse to use the term “phablet”). It’s a performance powerhouse that, despite its large size, is relatively comfortable to use even with average-size hands. The G Pro loses a few points for its limited multitasking features, but if you’re looking to buy a large Android phone and aren’t dismayed by the underperforming camera, then the G Pro is definitely worth considering.”
“I like a lot of things about the Optimus G Pro, but personally I’d never buy one. That’s not a knock on this particular device — I just don’t want a 5.5-inch cellphone. I like having a big, immersive screen for playing games or watching movies, but most of the time I need a phone that I can whip out of my pocket with one hand, quickly read or respond to something, and be done. When I want to sit down and spend time with a device? Well, that’s what my iPad is for. I don’t like having two devices, but I still choose that over the clumsy compromises a phablet forces.”

In Depth
The LG Optimus G Pro is a giant of a phone that, spec for spec, looks like a better buy than most of its massive competitors. Steve Kovach from Business Insider agrees, calling this smartphone one of “the Best Giant-Screen Android Phone You Can Buy.”
It has a faster processor, a better and bigger camera sensor, a sharper display, an infrared sensor, a larger battery and a much longer uptime. The G Pro also showcases some innovative features such as the dual camera mode, a time catch shot and the multi window view.
So should you buy it? It’s certainly compelling. Like Android Community’s Cory Gunther says, “Considering it competes or tops the Note II, has specs and features that compare with the new GALAXY S 4, yet only costs $199 for the 32GB model, this is a great buy.”
Ultimately this one comes down to wether or not you can live with the experimentally massive form factor.
The Good: Power and specs that outmatch any previous offering, new and innovative features.
The Bad: It’s MASSIVE – more tablet than phone.
