“The Samsung Galaxy A52 5G is a handsome and durable phone with a gorgeous 120Hz AMOLED display, but its slack performance makes it a hard sell.”

“The A52 feature set is properly unrivaled at its price point. Going over the highlight once more, in no particular order - a 90Hz smooth and very bright AMOLED display, IP67 certification, a very solid stereo speaker setup with Dolby Atmos and a 3.5mm jack, a solid quad-camera setup, now with OIS on the main snapper and a respectable 4,500 mAh battery, with 25W charging support. All of it tied nicely together by Samsung's excellent and latest One UI 3.1, on top of Android 11, chock-full of advanced and nifty software features, plus a newfound promise for long-term updates (3 Android release) and support.”

“The Samsung Galaxy A52 5G lives up to the successes of its predecessors. Those who are looking for an upper mid-range smartphone will be satisfied with the Galaxy A52 5G, even though it does not have a thriving ecosystem of accessories yet.”

“Even without 5G, the Samsung Galaxy A52 is a good smartphone that was refined in useful ways compared to the predecessor. The LTE version offers a longer battery life, and there isn't much difference in the system performance either. Those who are looking for a mid-range smartphone and don't need 5G will receive a very good smartphone for everyday tasks with the Samsung Galaxy A52 LTE.”

Really nice phone. Been using it for years. Only issue is the backcover is loose after the 1st year. Looks like a common issue.

Friend had the same issue. Just bought a tight fit case and all good.

Nice tip thanks!

In Depth

Samsung’s March 2021 collection of budget Galaxy models offers varied options out of three very similar phones. The Galaxy A52 would be considered the entry-level phone in the lineup with its smaller size and weaker camera. Consider the following differences and similarities to the larger, pricier A72 model.

What’s Different

  • The Samsung Galaxy A52 has a smaller screen than the A72
  • Smaller and more lightweight
  • 4500mAh battery
  • It has a depth lens instead of a telephoto lens

What’s the Same

  • Super AMOLED full HD display
  • 90hz refresh rate
  • 64MP primary lens and 12MP Ultra-wide lens
  • No 5G capabilities

The Samsung Galaxy A52 is an entry-level phone without a hefty price tag. It offers a significant portion of the A72 experience at a lower price.

The camera isn’t quite as good. But the camera on the A72 won’t satisfy phone people looking for a robust mobile camera anyhow. This also won’t be great for games with a smaller battery and screen.

Otherwise, if you want something capable and lighter than the A72, this is comparable in just about every way.

Pocket-Lint says, “Meanwhile, the standard A52 – which won’t come to the UK – is a mix between the A52 5G and the A72, offering the same camera, display, design and battery as the A52 5G, but with the LTE capabilities, 90Hz refresh rate display (albeit smaller) and processor as the A72.”

Tech Radar states, “The Samsung Galaxy A52 isn’t going to blow you away with top-end specs or a remarkably affordable price, but it’s still a solid choice for a mid-range handset that can compete with the likes of the Google Pixel 4a. It’s a difficult phone to love, but if you’re looking for a lot for a lower price point than most other Samsung devices, you may enjoy what the Galaxy A52 has to offer.”
