“The Samsung Omnia M is a beautiful designed phone with less in weight. It gives you plenty of applications and features to enjoy and work on. As well as the battery capacity of this phone is great. But, the limited 4 or 8 GB of memory space will not impress masses. The RAM is just 384 MB, which slows down the process of multitasking and swapping from one application to another. The camera is not also HD, which forces us to give it three star rating.”

In Depth

The Samsung Omnia M uses one of the more recent flavors of Microsoft’s mobile phone operating system, Windows Phone version 7.5. It sports a 4-inch 480×800 Super AMOLED touchscreen display, a 5MP camera, and a 1GHz processor. So how does it compare with HTC- or Nokia-made alternatives?

The M, with its classic full-touchscreen look, manages to wow with its 10.5mm thin profile. On its sides, you’ll find several useful hardware buttons and ports for added functionality. And it can offer up to 7.5 hours of talk time on 3G. Basically, it has all the makings of a good smartphone on the outside, but unfortunately, its internals are quite disappointing.

The base model comes with only 4GB of internal storage and a higher-end model is limited to 8GB. That might have been okay had there been a microSD card slot, but there isn’t. Also, it ships with a paltry 384MB of RAM. In an age where 2GB of RAM on smartphones is becoming the norm, it’s difficult to understand why Samsung thought this was adequate. Unless you can live with these kinds of limitations on your main phone, it’s probably best to set your sights elsewhere.

Need to Know: Samsung Omnia M

1. High-quality 4-inch 480×800 Super AMOLED touchscreen display. (The Good)

2. Standard battery offers nearly 8 hours of talk time on 3G. (The Good)

3. Very limited amount of RAM and internal storage. (The Bad)

4. Non-removable battery. (The Bad)
