Sony Ericsson W880i

“The Sony Ericsson W880 is a great addition to the Sony Ericsson lineup. Furthermore it is a really intriguing addition to the group of the slimmest champion mobile phones in the market. Since most of those doesn't feature 3G support, the W880 will most surely find its market niche and would gain strong popularity. We are impressed with the usability of the device, the nice technical specifications, the great music player and the decent battery life. All in all, a great move from Sony Ericsson that would win them a lot of fans. Well, as it seems, the Sony Ericsson W880 was surely worth the commotion and all that months of waiting.”

“This phone is so sweet, you might be tempted to scarf it down. Don't! The W880i is capable of so much more than just giving you nasty gastrointestinal pain. Besides being dead sexy with its striking metallic and rubberized case, and nearly as thin (9.5 mm!) as a Nano, the W880i is also a damn good music player. The integrated Walkman Player 2.0 may lack the slickness of an iPod's UI, but it still streamlines the process of transferring songs from a Mac or PC. The 1.8-inch screen is a tad small, but also bright, colorful and offers nearly a 180-degree viewing angle. A 2.0-megapixel cam takes decent yet noisy pics, but that's no biggie. You're probably not purchasing this phone for its image-capturing prowess.WIRED Clear, precise sound from music player. Works perfectly as a phone. Buttons are spaced evenly apart and provide good force feedback. Nearly inexhaustible battery. 3G Web browser is quick and easy to access. Includes 1GB Memory Stick Micro. Transferring music is simple process of click and drag.TIRED Included earbuds are so bad, they must be a practical joke from Sony. AC adapter and headset plug into the same port-so in order to charge the phone and listen to music simultaneously, you need to awkwardly piggyback the two. (Unless you're synched up to a set of dorky Bluetooth headphones.)”

“With its bold color scheme, Nano-like form factor, and solid music player, the Sony Ericsson W880 could be the perfect device for somebody that wants a phone and music player with them at all times, but doesn't wish to be weighed down by multiple devices. It is not going to be the perfect device for people interested in heavy text messaging or web browsing. The ergonomics of the design just don't allow for that.Given a better keypad and d-pad controller, the W880 would have earned a better rating. As-is, I can only give it a solid Recommended rating instead.”
