Well, what are you trying to do with GPS? Usually apps use GPS to determine your location like when you are having chat with someone in Facebook, they know where you are.

Do you have call waiting service enabled? That may be the beep sound.

Are the pictures sync to a cloud service app? Also, have you tried using a file manager app to check if the images still exist?

You can't. It's preinstalled on the phone. It doesn't use the traditional SIM card.
