Galaxy S27 Pro tipped to skip Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme chip
Key points
- A database listing suggests the Galaxy S27 Pro will use the standard Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6, not the faster Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6.
- The same listing puts the Galaxy S27 Ultra on the Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6.
- The Galaxy S27 and Galaxy S27+ are listed with Samsung's own Exynos 2700 chip.
- That would mean three different chips across the four phones.
- The listings are for European models, and Samsung has not announced any of the phones.
Samsung’s Galaxy S27 Pro may not get Qualcomm’s fastest phone chip. A listing in the NBD database, spotted by GSMArena, shows the Galaxy S27 Pro with the standard Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 instead of the faster Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6. Android Police, Android Authority and TrustedReviews all picked up the same detail.
The same listing covers the whole S27 lineup. The Galaxy S27 Ultra is shown with the Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6. The Galaxy S27 and Galaxy S27+ are shown with Samsung’s own Exynos 2700 chip. That adds up to three different processors across four phones, which T3 calls potentially the most confusing Galaxy S lineup yet.
An earlier rumor had already claimed the S27 Ultra would use the Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6, at least in Europe. The new listing backs that up and adds the details for the other three models. The Pro’s chip is the surprise, since it would sit below the Ultra in raw speed.
These are database entries for European models, not a Samsung announcement. Samsung has not confirmed any of the phones or their chips, and the lineup could look different in other regions.
